Hand Arm Vibration Checks (HAVs)
HAVS comes from the use of hand-held power tools and is the cause of significant ill health (painful and disabling disorders of the blood vessels, nerves and joints).
It is preventable, but sadly once the damage is done it’s permanent. Symptoms of HAVS can include impaired circulation, numbness, tingling and stiffness of the joints.
Hand Arm Vibration health surveillance can identify anyone exposed, or about to be exposed, to hand-arm vibration. It can help prevent disease progression and eventually disability. It can help identify any vibration-related disease at an early stage in employees regularly exposed to hand-held vibration. Effective health surveillance for HAVS will ensure people stay at work.
